DJ Mackie
Founder and Head Spinstructor
DJ Mackie combines professional DJ experience with years of work as a special education teacher. He breaks techniques into clear steps and adjusts the pace for each student.
Lessons cover timing, transitions, cue points, song selection, equipment control, and set preparation. Students practice on the equipment throughout the session instead of watching a long demonstration.
DJ Flaum
Brandon Flaum · Spinstructor · Long Island
Brandon Flaum is a Long Island-based DJ with over five years of experience performing at weddings, nightlife venues, private parties, and special events. Known for his versatility and ability to read a crowd, Brandon specializes in mixing a wide range of genres, including House, EDM, hip-hop, Latin music, and crowd-favorite sing-alongs.
Brandon teaches DJing from a real-world perspective, focusing on clean transitions, phrasing, song selection, music library organization, crowd reading, and knowing when and how to shift the energy in the room. He also teaches students how to prepare for live gigs, handle requests and unexpected situations, and stay confident behind the decks. His goal is to help students develop their own unique mixing style and become confident, well-rounded DJs who are ready to perform for a live crowd.
DJ Poppa
Spinstructor
DJ Poppa’s love of music started with dancing at family gatherings and playing drums in church, where he discovered how rhythm brings people together.
Since 2009, he’s developed his craft as a DJ and entertainer, connecting with audiences across genres, generations, and cultures. Through his company, BigWoofer Entertainment, he has provided entertainment for weddings, milestone celebrations, and organizations including Chase Bank and 1199SEIU Funds.
At SpinLab Studios, DJ Poppa brings that experience to helping students explore rhythm, learn to mix, and find their own style behind the decks. His approach combines professionalism, personality, and the joy that first drew him to music.
