SpinLab Studios provides hands-on DJ instruction for children, teens, adults, and students with different learning needs.

Our Story
SpinLab Started in the Classroom
SpinLab began while Mackie Charles was working as a special education teacher. He brought a DJ controller into the classroom and saw students who were usually quiet begin asking questions, choosing songs, and taking ownership of the activity.
That lesson became the model for SpinLab Studios: demonstrate a skill, let the student practice it on the equipment, and adjust the instruction until it makes sense.

Meet the Founder
DJ Mackie
DJ Mackie is an educator, DJ, and creative mentor who brings together real DJ experience and years of work helping students grow. His teaching style is patient, structured, energetic, and rooted in one belief: students rise when the environment is built for them to succeed.
At SpinLab, students do more than learn music. They build confidence, focus, courage, creativity, and the ability to express who they are.
How Lessons Are Taught
Students spend the lesson using the equipment. Techniques are demonstrated in clear steps, practiced with guidance, and repeated at a pace that works for the student.
Equipment and Music Skills
Students practice timing, transitions, cue points, song selection, and equipment control.
Pace Adjusted to the Student
The pace and amount of instruction are adjusted for age, experience, and learning needs.
Clear Steps and Practice
Each technique is demonstrated, practiced in parts, and repeated before moving on.
Progress You Can Hear
Students can hear the difference as their timing, transitions, and song choices improve.
